The TADSAW THERAPY DOG AMBASSADOR DOG PROGRAM was established to promote the work of TADSAW, INC. to those interested, whether at speaking engagements, public events, meetings, media events, or to have our special therapy dogs be available to the family members of the wounded warrior with PTSD/TBI. Families suffer also from the effects of PTSD/TBI. They too serve. And once again TADSAW steps forward to assist when the call comes.

Whether for wives, children, mothers, fathers and/or other family members our dogs are there. This is just the beginning of a national program that will select only those certified and nationally recognized therapy dogs that work primarily or solely with wounded warriors. Each dog must have an AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB “Canine Good Citizenship Certification” (CGC) and provide up to date veterinary records.

The dogs and handlers must have ‘worked’ for a minimum of one year with wounded warriors. Candidates must be approved by TADSAW, Inc. prior to acceptance into the TADSAW Therapy Dog Ambassador Program. The American Kennel Club's CANINE GOOD CITIZENSHIP CERTIFICATION (CGC) must be achieved, as well as (Therapy Dogs Incorporated) TDInc. membership. References must be provided.

For children of deployed or injured family members, a TADSAW THERAPY DOG AMBASSADOR will be there to listen, to hear, and to connect to, during deployments, homecomings, and life changes. When a parent returns from war, he or she is often a different person. Relationships have altered and deployments bring changes to every member of the family. This is especially true when a service member returns due to injury, whether physical or emotional or both. It is at times like this that the presence of a TADSAW Therapy Dog could provide what is needed for the child.

Pet therapy is a broad term that includes animal-assisted therapy and other animal-assisted activities. Click the image below to see Kelsie at work at the VA POLYTRAUMA in San Antonio, TX.
